German Culture Museum
Welcome to our newly expanded museum!
It’s more than a collection of antiques, old photos and yellowed newspaper clippings – it’s a place where the foundation of the world’s largest Amish community can be inspected, studied and actually touched. When you visit Ohio’s Amish Country, don’t pass up the opportunity to visit our unique museum.
We're offiliated with the Mennonite Information Center
in Berlin, home of the cyclorama Behalt. Painted by Hans Gaugel
, Behalt describes the persecution of Mennonites and Amish in Europe, the exodus to the New World, and their migration as pioneers throughout the USA.
Focusing specifically on the history and settlement of Holmes County and Walnut Creek Township, the German Culture Museum strives to give you a snapshot of life in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
After being closed for several years, we've made the move to our new location. The museum has moved across the street into the lower level of the new Walnut Creek
Township Building. Come and see us soon!
